Record breaking scale brings record breaking benefits. Samson will not only generate an unprecedented amount of clean, sustainable energy, it will also support local economic development in Invenergy’s communities hosting the project.
Located in Franklin, Lamar and Red River Counties in Northeast Texas, the Samson Solar Energy Center began construction in July 2020. The complete project will generate 1310 megawatts of sustainable energy, enough electricity to power 300,000 American homes.
Samson Solar Energy Center is a nearly $2 billion capital investment. Over the life of the project, Samson will directly invest $450 million in the local economy through new tax revenues and lease payments to participating landowners. The project will also support up to 600 jobs during the 36-month construction phase and create 12 permanent operations and maintenance jobs.
Samson Solar Energy Center will be developed and constructed in 5 phases. Each phase will begin operations as they are completed. Construction began in July 2020.
The Samson Solar Energy Center represents the equivalent offset of taking 325,000 vehicles off the road, planting more than 500 million trees and will offset the equivalent of 6 million tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the project.
Samson Solar Energy Center redefines sustainability – bringing a record number of businesses together to support their energy goals while supplying clean, cost-effective and reliable power to the grid.
Panels are primarily made of glass, aluminum, copper and other common materials. The solar panels to be used at Samson Solar Energy Center are incredibly durable and will meet all local, state and federal regulations. Solar panels are safe to touch, attach to your home or install in your neighborhood.
At resting height, the panels are between six and eight feet off the ground. The panels will be aligned in north-south rows on trackers that rotate the panels throughout the day from east to west, following the sun. At peak height in the morning or evening, the top of the panels will be approximately 15 feet off the ground.
Solar energy is an emission-less and renewable form of energy generation. When compared to traditional forms of energy generation, it has a positive impact on human health and the environment. Additionally, solar energy does not use water to generate electricity.

We strive to minimize our impacts to wildlife and natural resources, and our efforts start from the very beginning of the life cycle of a project. Our Environmental Compliance and Strategy (ECS) team leads these efforts and follows every aspect of a project’s life to ensure impacts to sensitive environmental resources are minimized or avoided, with continued compliance with our commitments once a project is operational.
Headquartered here in the United States, Invenergy is a leading privately held developer and operator of sustainable energy solutions.
